FAQ

Q: Is it OK to use laundry detergent in cold water?
A: You can use our detergents with cold water, but warm or hot water provides the best cleaning results. If you wash with cold water, we suggest you use Tide Coldwater. Tide Coldwater can clean effectively in water as cold as 40°F (4°C). If the water in your washing machine is colder than this, add a bit of warm water to bring the temperature to that level. If you use another detergent, the water should be at least 60°F (16°C). If the water in your washing machine is colder than this, add a bit of warm water. We recommend you only use a cold wash for items that specify this on the care label.

Q: Is this product good for whites as well as colors?
A: Yes, Tide Coldwater Clean can be used with both whites and colors; however, as with traditional laundry, sorting by color is highly recommended prior to cleaning, as some garments may bleed even in cold water conditions.

Q: Can I use this product on my delicates?
A: Yes, Tide Coldwater Clean can be used on any garments that are considered machine washable. Some garments can be more susceptible to color loss and bleeding, and as with all detergents, it is recommended that a small hidden area of the garment be tested for colorfastness if there is concern.

Q: Do I need to dilute Tide Coldwater Clean before I use it?
A: No, you do not need to dilute Tide Coldwater Clean prior to use. Simply follow the usage instructions on the packaging and fill the cap of Tide Coldwater Clean to the appropriate line and pour it.

Q: What happens if I use warm water by mistake?
A: Tide Coldwater Clean can also be used in warm and hot water washes.

Best Detergent!

I used to use regular Tide. Then my parents started using Tide Coldwater. I switched to Tide Coldwater. Cleans perfectly, and leaves a nice, not overpowering, fresh scent. When I'm not using Tide Simply Clean and Fresh to take care of my more smelly laundry, I use Tide Coldwater. Simple and effective for all your laundry needs.

Our water is too cold

I need to run a second rinse for my all-black clothing, otherwise I have white residue, especially on my spandex aerobic wear. We called in a repairman, and he said the machine is working well, but, in the winter, our water is too cold. Another customer commented that the American site says water should be 15 degrees. Why isn't there something on the label giving that advice?

wonderful product

I absolutely LOVE Tide Cold Water! I am so glad that you have made this type of wash detergent. I used to have to use lots of hot water and because of that my electricity bill was getting higher. Now that I use TCW, I save a lot of money. It removes stubborn stains and it smells so good for days. With 3 kids, it's not easy keeping up with laundry; but with Tide I can do 2 loads a day and not worry about the cost of hydro. Thanks again for such a great product!

Does almost all of my laundry

I wash gym clothes (cottons, dri-wear, synthetics) daily after every workout. I'm not ashamed to admit that when these clothes go in, they are soaked in sweat and smell. Because there's a load going through every day, I toss in whatever else needs to be washed as well. Tide Coldwater HE does a fantastic job every time. The only exception (and the reason I give it four stars) is that in winter it requires cool water. The water coming out of the cold tap in January through March is approximately 8°C but Tide Coldwater works best at 15°C (60°F according to the US Tide site). I adjusted the input valve on my washing machine to add just enough hot water on the warm cycle to bring up the temp in the washing tub to 16°C.Three seasons it rocks. Canadian winter may requires a little heat as municipal cold water can sometimes be too cold.Oh, and not only do the clothes come out clean and fresh, but soft. Because of the dri-wear, I never use fabric softener - and yet even the most delicate fabrics in our household come out soft.
