Loads of Hope: a mobile laundromat

Ten years ago, in response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Tide created Loads of Hope: a mobile laundromat developed to restore a sense of normalcy and dignity through the basic comfort of clean clothing for those in the midst of chaos.

Since that time, Tide has helped renew hope for nearly 45,000 families across the country affected by natural disasters, from tornadoes in Missouri to flooding in South Carolina.

We have learned that when the effects of a disaster are widespread, it can be difficult to find a centralized location where people can easily come to us. So, on this 10 year anniversary of the Tide Loads of Hope program, we are introducing a new laundry truck that can be quickly deployed and can travel to multiple communities impacted by a disaster, enabling us to better reach those in need.

The new truck — powered by Matthew: 25 Ministries, a top-ranked, international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization — features 12 new high-efficiency Whirlpool Duet washers and dryers and can do up to 100 loads of laundry per day, enabling Tide to help hundreds of families during each disaster relief visit.

The new Loads of Hope truck

This new truck will join the original truck that is outfitted with 32 energy-efficient Whirlpool^® Duet™ washers and dryers and is capable of cleaning over 300 loads of laundry every day.

Our expanded fleet improves our ability to respond to more types of disasters and in turn help more people, because we’ve learned that something as simple as fresh, clean clothing can truly make a difference.
