Mildew is never welcome, and even less so when it gets on your clothes or sheets. Keep the clothes you love clean with these tips to get rid of mildew stains with a helping hand from Tide.

    • Remove Excess:

      Scrape off any excess from the garment before rinsing under warm, running water.

    • Prepare a Soaking Solution:

      Fill a sink, bucket or bowl with warm water and add half a scoop of Tide Powder Detergent. Mix up the solution by hand until the detergent completely dissolves.

    • Soak:

      Add your mildew stained garments to the solution and leave to soak for two hours.

      Extra tip: Did you know that if the stained garment keeps floating to the top, you can place a white towel on top of it to weigh it down in the soaking solution?

    • Preparing for Wash:

      Gently wring out excess water before adding it to your washer with similar items.

    • Wash:

      Wash with Tide Powder Detergent, making sure you dose the laundry detergent correctly. Always make sure to follow the instructions on your garment’s laundry symbols.

    • Unload:

      When the wash cycle is over, remove the items and you’re ready to go.

If the stain persists after washing, pretreat using Tide HE Turbo Clean Liquid. Pour Tide on to cover stain and let set for 5 minutes. Then, rewash in warm water with 1 use of Tide before drying.

Effective Stain Removal on a Variety of Stains

A mildew stain is hard to remove, but it's not the only tough stain out there. Plaster can also pose stain-removal problems. The good news is that Tide can tackle the toughest laundry challenges. With a few of our tips and tricks, you can get even the most stubborn stains out of your favorites.
