I recently had the occasion to use Tide Original Powder and really like it. The clothing has a different " feel " after its use compared to Tide Liquid. I am a professional and probably don't soil laundry as some and this detergent satisfies my needs. I must admit that I miss the clothesline fresh scent that the product formerly had.
Did tide original changed its scent. It smell more fruity to me. Please let me know if it’s changed. Thanks.
This product has so many uses. I love using it with bleach to clean my floors. Also great for cleaning ovens. I highly recommend this product to everyone.
I love using powder detergents and this is by far my favorite. The smell is amazing and lasts a long time. This is a product which I would definitely recommend. This product is very affordable so it’s amazing.
I recently came across the account for Go Clean Co on Instagram and have learned the wonders that is powder Tide. I’ve honestly never been a big fan of powdered laundry detergents but after learning of the enzymes that help really break down dirt and grime, I am a convert! And not just for laundry. Actually less for laundry and more for general cleaning. Check out their account for more info! Water, bleach, Tide will forever be a staple in my home. It is amazing what it can do for almost anything!
I don’t understand why my clothes smell so bad. This is something I would expect from a store brand detergent, not from tide
The BEST detergent for tough stains and getting clothes clean! We use this for our son’s cloth diapers and it cleans so well and gets everything out!! Might be spendy, but it lasts a long time!
For years the smell of the original Tide was something that I always looked forward to. I finally am able to afford to buy Tide powder again only to find out it is NOT the same! I'll finish up the box that I just bought but will be switching to something else. So sad.
New "original" scent. How can Original have a New smell. I have just in the last few months been able to buy the Original powder. I loved it. So fresh so clean .Covid 19 days ..I have had touse fowl STRONG FAKE smells like your competitors have. They were making me have headaches. TIDE was fresh and clean BUT NOT now. I willbuse my new box but will hang clothes outside to dry to air out the smell. Disappointed to say the least. Would have given TIDE Origianl a 5 ⭐ if the scent had stayed the same.
The new lipless box is a perfect example of penny wise, pound foolish. Because this new box basically exploded powder all over the place when I opened the it, I am now thinking it is time to reconsider Tide which I have used for decades, So while P

I use this for everything. Stains, carpet stains, floors, walls. It cuts through dirt like a champ.
This has been my same detergent for years. It gets the job done, and it leaves my clothes smelling fresh
I’ve been using Tide Original he powder for years. In the past, you pull the tab around the top of the box to open, revealing a double layer of cardboard that nests when the box is closed (part of the inner layer stays with the box and the outer layer stays with the lid) - which allowed the box to seal and stay closed. The new box only has a single layer at the lid, so it doesn’t really close at all. It’s like an open beaked baby bird waiting for a worm. It is super annoying since the box is so full (which from a visual indicator of value seems awesome) it spills all over when you scoop detergent or shift the box on the counter (which is not so awesome):(. I want my old box back. I seriously considered doing a recycling bin dumpster dive to get my last box back to transfer the new soap to the old box. I didn’t, but it was a near thing. A week later I’m regretting my squeamishness....
This stuff is so much more convenient and efficient than liquid detergent! No mess from dripping soap, and you’re able to use much less than liquid soap.
I use powder tide for everything!!! Cleans your clothes, your floors, counters, tubs, whatever!! Follow @gocleanco on iG
As a member of the GoCleanCo Cleaning Army, I use powdered tide for everything. Laundry, washing the walls, everything. The smell is great, it gets all kinds of stains up from any surface and it lasts forever!
Love this for cleaning! 1 tsp in a gallon of hot water and you’ve got yourself a GREAT cleaning solution! (Thanks, GoCleanCo!) Great for laundry and bonus...the smell is wonderful!
This is the best detergent hands down. I follow go clean Co and they reccomend this for seriously everything. It’s the only thing I can use for my boys clothes to keep them clean, bright and stain free!
I don’t use this for laundry all that often but I do use it to clean everything in my house. GoCleanCo on Instagram taught me everything I know. #WaterBleachandTide
I’m old school and love this powder. A little goes a long ways and it has that great tide scent
I exclusively buy Tide powder laundry detergent. I haven't bought other detergent in years. I use less than recommended, and my clothes always come out perfectly, always using cold water. I love that it's not only easier to deal with, it lasts longer because of the size, and it's a greener option because the container is cardboard instead of plastic. I will continue to buy Tide detergent!
I switched to powder when I started doing cloth diapers and never switched back because I feel it gives a much better cleaning job than others!
The amount of cleaning you can do with tide powder is mind blowing - not just for laundry! Highly recommend following GoCleanCo on Ig for suggestions but works fantastic on clothes, floors, walls - you name it!
Once I saw GoCleanCo on Instagram I had to buy Tide! This stuff is magical! It gets ride of stains off of everything! I use it to clean everything around the house too! I love the smell and the price is great too!
Always stick to the same product, for decades. I like the powder, because it seems like my clothes don’t have a film on those. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I like the clean from the powder better.
I’ve been using Tide powder for about 7 months now. This last box I purchased with acti lift must have been very potent that it left bleach spots all over my new towels and on a few clothes items.
Best detergent ever!!! I don’t know why it took me so long so try but omg I’ll never go back. Tide is great for clothing, and cleaning @gocleanco for life!!! If you know you know if not check them out on Instagram!
Tide Original Powder is one of the most used cleaning agents in our house at this point. We use it not only for laundry, but for mopping the floors, and cleaning other upholstered items. It is a very affordable option for the various uses it provides and for the efficiency. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new detergent or cleaning option.
I have been washing my family's clothes for twenty-five (25) years. I have tried almost every premium laundry detergent. While others are good, Tide Powder is the best cleaner and leaves a fresh fragrance. P & G cannot improve on perfection.
I’ve gone back to the old fashioned powder detergent. I’ve noticed our clothes are cleaner without all the thickeners that are put into the liquid. I just think the powder works better. My only complaint is that it doesn’t dissolve well in cold water and I would like that to be an option for some items.
This is amazing! Not only does this leave my clothes smelling great and clean, it can also be used to clean household items! I mix it with some warm water and it can clean anything from stove tops to sneakers. Add some bleach and you can make your floors sparkling!
We cloth diaper so having a detergent that can actually get the clothes clean is important. With tide powder it lasts a long time and it cleans well.
This is the literal best. There are so many uses for powdered Tide! I obviously use it in my laundry, I also use it to clean my shower!
I am the biggest fan of tide and of powder detergent so it’s fail proof to combine them! This has been my go to detergent for the past year and for the price you get a ton of loads!
I have tried all kinds of different laundry detergent. Where we live the water is very hard has a lot of phosphorus in it. Using original tide my clothes don’t look as dingy and come out clean. Even my husband’s greasy work clothes come out clean.
I use this tide powder to clean my entire house! Thanks to one Instagram account during quarantine I changed my entire cleaning routine.
Just started using the powder again after like 20 years. The scent seems to be the true original scent. It does a great job cleaning. Tide is the best.
This is my favorite laundry detergent. I not only use it as detergent, but I also use it as an all purple cleaner. This is an affordable product and lasts a long time. I love the smell and the way it cleans.
In my experience, tide powder is the best. The only use I have for the liquid, is to pretreat oily spots. So, pods are out. I only wish there were single usage packaging. Husband and grandkids, you know... I DO, repackage my powder into big ziplock bags, which I then place in the original carton. Less lumpy that way. AND, I measure out exactly how much is meant by the lines in the stupid scoops. (It differs by The “type” of tide... sigh). I then use a two tablespoon scoop to measure out the correct amount for my loads. OTHERWISE, I use too much, and it doesn’t rinse out properly. Even with all of that finagling, Tide powder is still (hands down) the best at cleaning my laundry!
I use cloth diapers for my son since he was 2 months old. After some trial and error with other detergents, I decided to try Tide. The enzymes in this detergent ensure that all of the poop and urine residue actually washes out. I have also noticed the powder works amazing on removing stains from all of our clothes.
Love this stuff! First off if you don’t follow gocleanco on Instagram do it now! She shows you all the ways to use this stuff! My personal favorite is cleaning the walls, sounds crazy but it works amazing!!! Also leaves the whole house smelling fresh and like you did laundry all did haha
I purchase this particularly for use on cloth diapers. It’s very effective at cleaning and the powder formula rinses very cleanly. It smells nice and fresh, but not overwhelming.
I recently purchased tide again because I’m going to be cloth diapering with this child. I fell in love again, I forgot how great the cleaning power is, it smells fantastic. It’s more expensive but I feel you don’t need to use as much as cheaper brands.
I use this for my cloth diapers . It is really the only detergent that does the best at keeping the ammonia smell away.
I’m old school when it comes to laundry! I love the smell and cleaning power! Hard pressed to get me to make any changes here
I am a fan of Tide but I purchase large boxes in bulk and this powder left residues on our clothes. I was very disappointed and I hope the other products do not.
The product of this powder lasts longer and it has a measuring cup in each box.
Call me old fashioned but those tide pods everyone is using has ruined a comforter and many of expensive clothes by melting onto them. This is all I will use.
Tide liquid great. Switched to powder. Went fresh to RANCID in one wash. Downey & original same odor! ALL TIDE POWDER SMELLS LIKE RANCID ROTTEN MILK FEET. Box smell=fine. Once laundered=offensive.
P&G: Please bring back the 80's original scent!!! You might get a BIG surprise! Your sweet versions are keeping many from buying your product!
When I opened the box, the corners tore, such that powder detergent spilled out. Once I've done a few loads the contents should be low enough to avoid further spilling, but this is a poor design.
Powdered Tide detergents are my favorite. But Original smells bad! Wish I could sample the other scents without committing to the full box.
It makes clothes clean and will not feel itchy or dry. Nice product!
Tide powder is simply the best. It's a legend in itself. Proven through generations to just work.
After reading the reviews for this product, I think Americans will whine and complain about ANYTHING. They will find a way to be unhappy about ANYTHING. It is LAUNDRY DETERGENT.
Must mix powder w/hot water 2 dissolve. If I don't mix it before putting it into the machine, the clothes are left w/chunks/spots of residue leaving one to think the clothes are dirty.
After years of great laundry, now I have a smell that won't even come out after extra rinse cycle. Do you think a combo mildew/perfume smell is what people want? YUCK
I will have to find another brand since Tide changed its formula and smell. Now my clothes have a horrible mildewed smell and aren't clean. Tide PLEASE go back to the original formula and smell.
Have used Tide products for over 40 years - very reliable, always reliable
Our family has been using Tide since it hit the market..Only wish is that would go back to that clean fresh scent of the 50’s.
I have tried other detergents but I just don't get the results from other brands that I get from Tide.
I purchased the large size and that usually lasts us a year. Not this time! Stains are not coming out and clothes smelling musty, almost a mildewy smell. Tide sent me debit card to replace cost.
First time ever using a powdered detergent. I love this stuff! It made white bed sheets look brand new! It also cleans far better than the liquid and pod detergents too.
Since the formula changed, I have to use 2-3 times as much with warm water to get my clothes clean. Colors fade and clothes shrink. Changes of a good product doesn't always work.
Where can I buy the original powder Tide laundry detergent? It is gone from all the stores I shop. Nothing was better and the HE version is horrible.
This tuff cleans better than anything I've tried. Prefer the powder over the liquid. I always have issues with mustiness when using the liquid. Clothes and towels always smell fresh with the powder.
Used liqd soap in old frnt ld wshr(gskt mildw in 2006 Kenmore HE4t).Oldr wshr-gasket mldw-musty laundry.Too much liqd soap? We now use Tide HE turbo pwdr-4 mo so far,Tide pwdr HE-lndry smells clean
Been using Tide for 46 years. Purchased large box of Original Tide. After several rinses, scent was permanent. Will be donating to homeless shelter. Searching for new detergent!
Tide is my detergent of choice, I started washing my own clothes when i was 10 yrs. old and every since I have tried coupons for other detergents and they all fall short of original Tide.
Ever since actilift crystals were added it doesn't perform as well at removing odors.Towels are musty and socks stink.Workout gear is still ripe and shirt armpits still reek. And this is in ANY temp.
My laundry is done but my clothes smell NOTHING.. I'm gonna return it and buy an other brand because you can get your clothes as clean and smelling better for cheaper.
Poor scent with blue crystals. NOT happy and hate what you are pushing. It is not the same. I HATE THIS ONE. I bought the original and it is NOT what you say.
Tide Clean Breeze leaves clothes clean and always smelling amazing. I can't tell you how many times people have asked me what detergent I use! Please never discontinue this!
So disappointed. Used to love this, but now it's so expensive and smells strong and perfume-y like all the rest. Wish I had my money back.
The new original fragrance is too sweet and sickly. The old original fragrance was much more pleasant. I will probably not buy another box.
I'm finding it almost impossible to find a store that stocks this product. Can you help?
Trying to open the Ultra Tide box put me off from using the product! The slits on top were red herrings and don't do a thing! Disappointing design.
I am so thankful for this detergent. It does an amazing job at lifting stains and odors. Please don't ever discontinue this product. Thank you Tide!
It's like stepping into an 80s nightclub -- the overwhelming perfume will make your eyes water. I use the liquid HE detergent, always Original Scent, and didn't realize the scent had been changed. I've seen in other reviews that Mountain Spring is the old Original (yeah, THAT'S not confusing!), so I will look for that. BUT I will smell it in the store first. P&G -- you know better than this. Don't slap an Original label on something you've changed. At LEAST say "New Scent" on the bottle!
Ultra Tide Original has been changed for the worse. DO NOT buy this product unless you want to waste money. I bought a huge box thinking it was the same as it had been for 25+ years and for some reason, they decided to change the smell to something so strong, that I had to throw it away. I smelled it all over my house and it wasn't pleasant. I then had to rewash my clothes in an old small box I had on hand for travel because I couldn't wear them. P&G really messed up on this one.
I just washed my first load of towels with the new "original" Ultra Tide. I'm putting it through an extra rinse in hopes of removing the strong, offensive scent that is left in them. I have been a loyal Tide customer for 50 years. I am so disappointed that a great product has been ruined. Please bring back the real original.
I've always used Tide Original powder but hadn't used it in awhile due to financial constraints. Recently splurged on a box of Tide only to find that the scent has been changed to some a heavy musky odor that burns my nose and doesn't smell clean and fresh like it used to! The smell was so repulsive that I had to re-wash my laundry with another brand of detergent! I really wish P&G would bring back the PREVIOUS scent in Original Tide Powder, the one that I, and everyone I know loved! Not this terrible scent that literally makes me wanna hurl.
Ive been a loyal Tide customer for 20+ years. Its the only brand I would ever buy. The scent of the new Original is not the same! Ive read customer support response, suggesting to try Mountain Spring scent, as it smells like the old original. But that scent doesn't come in HE? Why doesn't it? Ive managed to find 2 small bottles of the old formula at a local store, but after theyre finished, I'll have to find a new detergent/ I really hope that P&G listens to all of the negative feedback from their customers!
The fact that Tide (P&G) updated the scent in this product is enough to be troubling all by itself! But adding insult to injury by not communicating this with your consumers is just poor business! The fact that the box still says "ORIGINAL SCENT" when it's not is VERY misleading. I called Tide (P&G) today and requested a refund for this product. I would have brought it back to the store, but I already emptied it into the plastic detergent bin we keep in the laundry room and tossed the box. They are issuing a prepaid Visa card in the full amount. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that they are promoting this product as the "original scent" when it's not. I encourage everyone else who is not happy with this scent change to call in (1-800-879-8433) and get a refund, too!
Why, Why, Why??? Why would the original scent be changed? To me it is what makes Tide Tide. The new "original" scent is way to sweet smelling. Why would the customer not be notified that a change had been made? It really needs to be changed back!!!!!
Tide has been used in our family since I was very young (so well over 30 years). The scent of Tide Original Powder has always been soft, almost powdery and very clean. I love it, my family loves it. It seems P & G on 07/01/2014 decided to change the scent of Tide Original Powder (he and non-he). I just cannot understand why! First April Fresh Downy softener was ruined, and now my beloved Tide Powder. So sad!!!
Since my son was born, he has been in cloth diapers and we were 100% loyal to Tide Original (WITHOUT ACTILIFT). Since they have added Actilift, his diapers are smelly and I'm worried the new formula will mess them up. I have switched detergent brands but would LOVE to go back to Tide Original without actilift. We've got another baby on the way who will also be in cloth diapers that unfortunately won't be washed in Tide until the original is brought back. Please listen to your customers who have been loyal to your brand!
I have used tide original powder recently and my clothes seem to get kind of clean, but they smell unclean. At first, I wasn't sure if it was just my washing machine that may have needed cleaning. But after reading so many negative reviews, I realized it is the detergent. I am a fan of tide because i do feel that it cleans my laundry and keeps clothes looking more vibrant. But if the formula is not changed, I will have to use another brand.
We used to use Tide before they started using the blue crystals, and with great results. We recently switched back and I am not happy. After we started using the new "original" formula our diapers are smelly, delaminated, and constantly gunked up with even the smallest amount of detergent we use. If you want to wash regular clothes with this it works great but don't throw your money down the drain using it on your diapers. Honestly I'm surprised Tide doesn't make a cloth diaper formula.
Just recently purchased a new GE top load HE washer, as well as a box of the Ultra Tide HE Powder. With each load that I have washed so far with the Tide powder detergent, I have had some sort of white residue left on the item being washed, in blotches or spots. The extra rinse feature was also on. To make sure it wasn't the washer I re-ran each load individually with Tide HE with Acti-Lift liquid and the residue was gone. Mind you that both detergents are being added through the HE detergent dispenser, as well as the same wash settings being used, that also goes for wash water temperature at warm water for the wash cycle or above. Please reply with help. Could I exchange the powder with you for the liquid that seems to work?
I recently purchased a large box of Tide from a local warehouse store. My mother always used Tide growing up and I absolutely loved the scent, but it also did a great job cleaning the clothes. I was anxious to use the new detergent as I was hoping for the same results I grew up with but after doing several loads of laundry, I am highly disappointed. I agree with other reviewers that my clothes are not nearly as clean, and worst of all, the new Original scent smells exactly like the scent used in many brands of kitty litter. I'm not sure about you, but I do NOT want my clothes to smell like kitty litter. I am disappointed in Tide as a company considering how many TERRIBLE reviews there are on this site, that they have not listened to their loyal customers and brought back the ORIGINAL unconcentrated formula with the truly original scent. Once this box is finished, I will not be purchasing another unless I see the original Tide is back. I agree that I would much rather purchase a less expensive detergent that cleans and smells much better.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tide is the perfect detergent for any washer and I highly recommend that you buy it. It does its job, no obnoxious fumes, and it gets my clothes clean. I have an Maytag bravos HE washer. But, if you have an HE washer, I recommend you buy Tide liquid, because sometimes the powder gets stuck in the dispenser drawer. So if you get tide for an HE, I recommend liquid, or pour the powder into the drum instead of the dispensers.
WHY WHY WHY? did you change Original Scent, Tide, HE Powder? You had a perfect product and you ruined it! What gives with the blue specs? It looks just like Tide with Bleach Powder and the new scent is too strong! Tide has been a household staple in many homes in the US since 1946 and has always been white! I will NOT be buy again!
I definitely prefer to use powder in my front loading machine. The liquids do NOT clean as well for me. I am having trouble finding stores that stock the HE Powder
I just bought Ultra Tide and am thoroughly confused by your packaging. It says that 1 scoop = 6 normal scoops for stain removal, but what about overall cleaning (vs. just stain removal)? Does that mean I should use 1/6 of the amount I used to use? Apparently not b/c when I went to this site, I see that we should use 1/3 less detergent than before. Also, what constitutes 1 scoop? The hard-to-read line on plastic measuring cup? Or a full scoop of the measuring cup? I used to work in consumer packaged goods marketing and these are really confusing instructions!!
I have been using Tide powder laundry detergents for almost 20 years since reading a leading consumer magazine which ranked powder detergents superior to liquids and had consistently ranked Tide powder detergent at the top of the heap. Unfortunately, Ultra Tide powder no longer outperforms competing powders. I suppose the detergents have been concentrated, but a lot of the water softeners (which make up the bulk of the powder and were already condensed) were removed. It's just not worth the price since I have to use more product, soak, or double-wash loads to get the same clean as Tide Original. Please bring back the Original tried, true and trusted Tide.
Question: Why is the new scoop so short? Answer: Greed. I note some of the video reviews show people measuring out a scoop of Ultra Tide powder. And, they say they are not sure which line to use so they use a full scoop. I’ll bet there are a lot of people out there who do the same or at least use a little more than recommended because they can’t read the scoop so well. I attempted to measure the volume of the scoop so I could find an alternate that is easier to use. (Yes I am an engineer.) Since getting the detergent in the scoop level on any line is so difficult, I used water. Level 1 (medium loads) = 2 oz Level 2 (large loads) = 2.5 oz Level 3 (heavy soiled) = 4 oz A full scoop = 5 oz. If the scoop was taller and narrower, there would be much more distance between the 3 lines and you could make a more accurate measurement. If Pocter & Gamble’s goal was to help customers make an accurate measurement, the scoop would be tall and narrow. If their goal was to sell more detergent, the scoop would be short and wide. Guess which they chose? To the ladies in the videos, you are using more than twice as much detergent as recommended. That is why your videos are on the web site. P&G stock holders thank you. For the rest of us, I recommend buying a 4 ounce measuring cup and marking the levels with a sharpie. The cup will pay for itself in savings several times over on your first box.
Best to use POWDER in HE washers. Doesnt buildup in machine like some liquid detergents do...causing mold. Bosch recomends powder.
When I purchased the new washer, I used tide as it was the only one in the area available that was rated HE. I was concerned and didn't want to leave the brand I've been become accustomed too but thought what a better time to try something new and I was glad that I did. The clothes come out great! I was sad to see that it didn't come fragrance free given my sensitive skin -- it didn't irritate my skin but I prefer not to have the smell -- although I'm getting accustomed to it
Tide was the only laundry detergent that was ever used in my family's house when I grew up. I'm from an active family of 10 that was not easy on clothes, so I figured if Tide could get all those stains out it was worth paying extra for when I moved out and had a family of my own. That statement held true until the release of Ultra Tide. The new concentrated formula has proven to be a BIG disappointment. If there are noticeable stains on my family's clothes I have to pre-treat them with a stain remover and then wash them 2-3 times before they come out. I'm not talking about tough stains, just any simple stain or dirt is more than the Ultra Tide can handle. As a result we go through more detergent, water, energy, and money to get our clothes clean. My family has been a loyal customer despite higher pricing of Tide for many decades, but with the poor quality of the new Ultra Tide I can no longer justify its purchase. I agree with the other reviews-BRING BACK THE OLD TIDE!
I've used Tide for 50 years. It's had a few changes through the years, but basically all were good. This one is not good! The new Ultra Tide doesn't dissolve as well, smell as good, and when I've used it to remove a stain in multiple items it has taken the color out of the places I 'spotted.' I really want the old Tide back! I, like others, will be looking for another alternative. Please, take a step back and at least give us a choice.
I thought I was nuts when I used the new Ultra tide because it didn't work the same as the original powder. It made all my clothes have this slick feel to them like all the detergent hasn't rinsed totally out. So I rinsed again and use a lot less stated on box. I still got that slick feeling to my clothes (which feels nasty, not good). Even cotton fabric had the feel. I have used Tide for a long time and I am not happy with the changes made to it. I see from other reviews that a lot more people are not happy either. I have searched the area over to find the original powder but no luck. everyone is carrying the new JUNK! Please bring back the original formula for people who do not like the ULTRA and let us be the ones who make the decision to buy the ORIGINAL or the ultra JUNK. If you are not going to bring back the original, I guess I will be looking for another brand. Tide is expensive but I didn't care because it took care of my clothes.
I have a secret to share... Do NOTuse liquid or gel-form Laundry detergent with your "he" machines... They'll end up smelling... Use ONLY the powder form... There will be NO SMELL whatsoever.. Now this being said... It is really really really hard to find and I already guess the response.." ask your grocery store manager to store it" not my Job !?!? ;o).... Please do a better job of selling it or make bigger format available of make it possible to order online ! Love it... But running low of patience and tired of spending gas going for store to store to find it. Overall very positive right !
I have used ONLY Tide for 50 years. So I know how it has cleaned. There is such a difference in all the newer products. My whites are dingy even with bleach. I hate the new formulations. Either bring back the tried and true old stuff or time to switch brands.
We have been using Tide for years. I don't mind paying a little extra, because I never have to pretreat anything when I use Tide. I have three kids and all our clothes always came out great. I'm afraid the new formula just isn't any better than the cheaper detergents. Stains that would have always came out before, don't come out anymore. If I'm going to have to do the extra work, I'll just buy the cheaper brands. I'll buy Tide again when it's worth it again. Thank you.
I have used liquid Tide for over 20 yrs. & was always happy with it. I bought my 1st HE machine about 10 yrs. ago & replaced it about 3 yrs. ago. I always used liquid Tide HE in it but my towels, especially, had a funny odor to them. I cleaned my washer each month as instructed by my serviceman but the smell was always there. I would eventually get rid of them & buy new. Then about a year ago I read that it could be caused by the liquid detergent & to try the Tide HE powder. After the 1st load the towels I was about to get rid of smelled fresh again!!! I never went back!! I LOVE TIDE HE DETERGENT!!!! But like some others I am having a hard time finding it. Please continue to make it!! I have been checking the stores you have listed in my area but it must be in short supply right now.
The new ultra doesn't get smells out well. The previous formulation worked much better. My kids underwear still smells like urine, when it comes out of the wash, and my dish rags are still whiffy. I have naturally low mineral (soft) municipal water. I can get slightly better (barely acceptable) performance out of the new Tide, if I add a full cup of white vinegar per load. I'll be shopping for another brand hoping for something that works well hassle-free, when I've used up my box.
I have been using Tide for many years and will have to look for a new product. Our white socks don't come clean washed with Tide, hot water and bleach. The other formula always cleaned them well. Other things don't seem as clean either. Mark me as very unhappy.
I agree with everything Chris305 said on July 17th... I had the exact same experience and I am frustrated that I have such a hard time finding this product in stores near me!!!
There is a huge community of cloth diapering moms who are loyal original Tide users and now very disappointed Ultra Tide users. I'm one of those dissatisfied moms. Ultra Tide is not getting my diapers completely clean. Ammonia builds up in the diapers; something that never occurred with the old formula. I have had to compensate with bleach and oxyclean, which are annoying additional steps and complicate my laundry routine. Please don't discontinue the old formula. Provide the original formula Tide powder HE as an option for us old school folks.
Tide keeps my cloths fresh for weeks. It almost makes me what to do laundry 24/7!!
I have been using Tide original powder for 30 years exclusively and have been very happy with it's cleaning properties and the fact that it is one of the few detergents that does not break my sensitive skin out in rashes. I have tried the concentrated versions and had no success an in fact did break out in rash. Now to my dismay...it is impossible to find the original Tide powder as it seems everything has been changed over to concentrated. Unfortunately, I am now forced to search for another detergent...should have kept the original.
The new Ultra Tide just isn't cutting it for us. Regardless of water temperature and type of clothing, I have to use more than the recommended amount to get things clean. I'm wasting so much money, having to use extra detergent. I'm finishing up what I have, and searching for a new HE powdered detergent.
Clothes smell horrible tracked dwn old Tide rewash
After reading this reviews I went to the local close out store and stack up on the old Tide that I was sooo lucky to still find, because my local grocery store did not carry. I will be good for 2 years ; )! Please Tide listen to your customers!
My laundry used to have a faint moldy smell after being washed. I tried everything from cleaning tablets to using bleach with the clean cycle. Nothing worked. Then I tried the Tide HE Powder Detergent and the smell practically vanished with the first load! Tide powder HE works 100% better than liquid HE for me. The clothes smell just like they used to with the regular washer I had and they actually feel cleaner. The only problem is that the powder formula is hard to find and the store I buy it from only carries regular scent. Please send and make more powder HE scents and make bigger packages! Thanks!
If you bring back the Original Formula Original Scent product I will return as a customer, until then I will continue to purchase another product. Your current product does not compare to competitors.
Very disappointed in this product and would not buy it again for these reasons: Mountain Spring was scentless and clothes were not as clean as with regular Tide.
Ive been using tide for over 20 years, and have not been disappointed until now. Ive purchased ultra tide new improved formula for the first time, and was very disappointed with every scoop. Odors remained on garments, even through second washing. I would like the original formula back.I do not like the changes.
The new concentrated powder seems to be causing the blue dye in our clothes (even the old ones) to run and stain other clothes repeatedly. Never had this problem before with Tide HE powder. I have a front loading machine and use the correct amount in cold water. What's wrong?
Please bring back the Original Scent, "real Tide"!! The new stuff leaves an odd odor that's just not my fresh smelling Tide!
I like this product because it cleans clothes well in my HE machine. The packaging for the powder is good for the environment and it's economical. My only concern is that the Ultra Tide HE powder is hard to find in stores in my local area.
I have Maytag HE washing machine. After this detergent, it started giving error. I wish TIDE can reimburse my money!!!
Please don't mess with Tide, this concentrated product doesn't have the cleaning power. It just does not clean my laundry. I've actually had to wash my clothes twice!!! What you might be saving in packaging is costing me in water, electricity not to mention time! This is very frustrating for someone that has counted on Tide for more than 50ty years!
Original Tide before the "new improved formula" was the ONLY detergent I could use on my diapers with success. As soon as the new version came out everything started to stink again. Please make it good again!!
My clothes have been washed in Tide only since I was an infant! I'm 45! I would never even consider washing any of my husband's or any of my 3 kids' clothes in anything else. Keep up the great work!
Hello, Tide has been my laundry detergent of choice for many years and i don't wish to change. The new product is 111 oz's less and takes more per load even though it's suppose to be concentraed, which is becoming very costly. Please bring the old product back!
This new Ultra formula doesn't get clothes clean and they come out of the dryer feeling limp and wrinkly. I loved the old powder formula and was a loyal customer for most of my adult life. Unless the old formula is restored I will have to find a new brand. I'm already looking. Be smart - follow Tropicana and Coke - RESTORE TIDE TO ITS FORMER GLORY!
The new ultra concentrated Tide is not getting my clothes clean. I was very disappointed as the old formula worked so well. I must use twice as much Tide as is recommended just to get them reasonable stain free. I will be trying other products, as Tide is too expensive to use, I get only 20 washes out of a 40 wash box and the clothes are getting ruined with stains. If I only get poor results I might as well use a cheaper detergent. I paid extra for Tide because I could always count on it and now I can't.
Just switched to this detergent. With the last 2 loads, I've had to unplug and reset machine due to 3 different error messages suggesting issues with too many suds and drain pump. I am questioning if it's related to the new formulation - "ultra". Will buy regular HE tomorrow.
I am totally disappointed in this product. I have used Tide for years. I have a soft water unit and I use more powder per load now than I ever did before. I am looking for a new wash detergent. SORRY...
I have a front loader washer and have to use He which works very well. The problem we have is the availability of He. Stores often don't carry it all the time and when it's on the shelves, their is often a limited supply. Is there another TIDE product that will operate as well? I.E. without excessive suds. He is a great product.
I was very disappointed with this "new and improved" Tide Original. The old formula worked great for cloth diapers but this new stuff doesn't seem to rinse out and our diapers are gradually getting stinkier and stinker. I haven't noticed any rashes yet, but something's not right with this "new and improved" detergent. We're going to have to switch!
I have used TIde for years. For the first time today, I tried the NEW "ultra" Original Scent Tide Washing Powders (both HE and Regular), I had to re-wash the clothes again in another detergent. The clothes did not smell clean. Please give us a choice - don't force something new on us - bring back the "OLD" Original Scent Tide Washing Powders, HE and Regular. Thank you!
I was picking up my favorite Tide liquid (original scent with bleach alternative) when I spied the boxes of newly improved Tide Powder in my grocery store yesterday. Having just returned from vacation, I had full two suitcases of clothes at the ready to test out the powder. WOW! it surpassed any and all previous Tide products I have used to date. My clothes looked Renewed, not "washed" out or dull. They were soft and smelled fantastic. You need to try this for yourself, you will be amazed!
I am very satisfied with this product and it actually makes my money go further
I've done two loads with the new Ultra Tide and have found that my young son's shirts have to be washed twice to get out toothpaste stains on his dark shirts. The old version of Ultra Tide always got those toothpaste stains out with the first washing. I really don't like having to re-wash items to get them clean. I think this new formula should be reconsidered and come back with the old version. It just did a better job. Why fix something that isn't broken? Please bring back the old Ultra Tide!!!
I recently switched from liquid detergent to powdered Tide. I am thrilled. The clothes and towels have stayed clean smelling much longer than with liquids. I love the original scent... clean smelling without being overpowering. Thanks for a great product.
I recently tried the new Tide powder, & it still does a good job. I also still some of the old formula too. It continues to do a good job at getting my clothes clean. I however have to cut back the amount I use for my washer, because my favorite scent is Mountain Spring, but so far, Mountain Spring continues to never be made in a HE formula. I don't have a problem with suds as I've used Tide in my HE washer before HE detergent ever went on the market (my washer bought in 1999, but the first HE detergent wasn't available in my area until 2001). I just wish all Tide detergent were made low sudsing so those of us with HE washers can use the scent of our choice.
I just did a load of laundry using the new ultra Tide powder detergent in "original scent" and i loooove the smell. It's super fresh and my laundry came out great! I personally don't mind the smaller box because the huge boxes were SO heavy to lift and took up a lot of space on my counter. I think concentrated detergent is a good idea. I'll continue to purchase Tide original scent again and again. (i also love the original Tide with bleach, another absolute favorite).
I see they have a new ultra tide detergent. I do not like it. It's the same power as the old one. They shrunk the box and raised the price. I was washing some dog pillows, son's sports uniform, and a lot of other things I have real heavy odors in and I had to wash them both twice and use 2 scoops in each one. This was very disappointing. I like this product but because of the less for more product, I will no longer buy it. Its just not worth it.
I've used Tide for the past 50 years; as a teenager my mother also used it. If I can't get Tide I don't get anything. I do recommend this to all my friends. A friend of mine always used another product and now she buys Tide.
The one and only detergent that i will use in our house whole. i am a Tide user for the past 20 years
Im pretty disappointed to see that tide is discontinuing its Original scent formula. I also went to Sams Yesterday and noticed the new box of Ultra Tide concentrated powder and there no longer selling the 317 ounce box(180 Loads) Whats going to happen, people are going to pay the same price for less concentrated soap and use the same amount there use to using costing them more money, and possibly cause a lot of oversudsing I can only wonder if they made those little green cups smaller. Until consumers get educated on the amount to use P&G is going to make alot more money. Today I bought eighteen of the 317 ounce boxes at another store cause they still had some in stock. And I'll be looking for more.
I've noticed that our stores are carrying more and more liquid Tide, as well as brands I do not buy. I've tried others, but always come back to my favorite..TIDE. Is your company trying to phase out the powders? I'd like to know, if that would be the case, than I need to seriously stock up, as I really like the power. Also, one box of powdered Tide I got had something clear thru it. Hubby said it looked like oil or something, but I used it anyway...what could it have been?
I am a third generation Tide user. I have tried many, probably all, other detergents. Yes, some may smell better and most of them are cheaper, but you get what you pay for. I don't know how to really explain it but it is like no matter how many times I wash an article of clothing it always looks good and smells good. With other detergents, after only a few washes, something happens to the fabric, it looses shape and feels not so clean. I have an active 10yr son and his clothes get that "little boy" smell, his school uniforms get grass stains and food, I used shout and Tide and they come out perfect! I swear by, live by, and refuse to use anything but Tide, even on times when money is tight, I don' t stray. I love Tide!
I rated this powder average because I find that whites do not stay white. This is the best of the rest but why do I need to add bleach or stain remover to washing detergent just to get clothes clean from normal wear? Shouldn't a detergent wash my clothes clean and keep colors bright without the need for more expense and additives?
you can try every detergent on the market, but nothing cleans better than tide! Nothing smells better than original scent tide. I love to wash all my drapes in tide and hang them out on the clothesline to air dry! I am a third generation Tide user, my grandmother and my mother always used tide!
Has anyone else noticed the HUGE difference in the way Tide Clean Breeze powder detergent used to smell and the way it smells now? It used to have such a pleasant scent, and now it's absolutely disgusting! It smells like cheap generic detergent. I can't stand it. BRING BACK THE OLD SCENT! After opening up a box with the new (awful) scent, I went back to the store and sniffed several other boxes on the shelf, hoping that the one I got was a fluke, mislabeled...something--but no, ALL the boxes smelled terrible. I still have an (empty, but still scented) box of the old Tide Clean Breeze, and the difference in scent between that and the new Clean Breeze scent is night and day. Tide, how could you change the scent to something disgusting and keep the same name? It's completely misleading. I'm mad. I've used the same detergent for YEARS, and now I have to find a new one. I already wrote to your customer service department and the representative suggested I try Tide's unscented powder (Free and Gentle, I think?), but I don't want NO scent and I don't want a GROSS scent; I want a GOOD scent. Is that too much to ask?
I absolutely LOVE using the Tide Original powder. It cleans my clothes great and and the smell is wonderfull. I would totally recomend this product!
Due to a money change in our income, to save money I started buying detergents that were on sale, as it turns out my clothes were not as clean and my husband asked, Why are clothes looking so not clean? I advised to save money I was not using Tide and was using a cheaper store brand or sale item. He advised, well if you have to wash the clothes twice to get them clean you are not saving on detergent, water or electric, so long story short I went back to Tide and not only is my husband happy but my clothes are as clean as clean can be......Thank You Tide.
why on earth would you think that the flimsy measuring cup can be used? clearly your testers have not tried. it is so fragile that it tore in half just pulling it out of the powder upon opening the box. in the next box, my wife broke it on the first attempt to scoop up powder. this just says CHEAP rubbish - i AM SURPRISED YOU WOULD COMPROMISE YOUR BRANDING. better off to just eliminate the cup scoop
I AM 68 YRS OLD AND MY MOTHER ALWAYS USED TIDE. SO WHEN I MOVED OUT ON MY OWN I CARRIED TIDE WITH ME. I HAVE NEVER, NEVER USED ANY OTHER LAUNDRY DETERGENT EXCEPT TIDE. IT HAS ALWAYS REMOVED STAINS SUCH AS RED GA MUD AND GRASS STAINS AND EVEN INK,. I'VE RAISED 4 CHILDREN AND SEEN SOME PRETTY DIRTY CLOTHES. BUT THIS YEAR I'VE NOTICED THE ARM PITS OF MY HUSBAND'S SHIRTS HAVE BEEN DISCOLORED. HE WEARS THE SAME WHITE BRAND SHIRT HE'S BEEN WEARING FOR THE PAST 11 YRS AND USES THE SAME DEODERANT. I'VE TRIED PRE SOAKING AND EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OFF TO NO AVAIL. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY OLD TIDE THAT WAS SO FAITHFUL. I'VE ALWAYS USED THE PLAIN OLD ORIGINAL TIDE!!! HELP
I have been using Tide w/ Bleach Powder Original scent since it came out and have been very happy with it! My clothes smell fresh and clean and are clean! Recently, I tried to buy it at the retailers I usually purchase it at, and to my disappointment, neither carry it any longer. I had to buy the Tide Powder Original Scent since that was the closest formula to what I wanted. I am not interested in all the new fancy formulas. This Tide Powder Original Scent formula is so disappointing!!! First of all, the scent is too strong and overwhelming. Why is it so strong? The Tide w/Bleach Powder is also Original Scent but it was light and pleasant not overwhelming and nauseating. Second, I noticed that the deodorant did not come out on three of my blouses!!! It looks like there are grease stains in the armpit area. This never ever happened when I used the Powder w/Bleach!!! I want my money back!
My mom used Tide and now I'm using it too. I agree that Tide should bring back the powder. I too have a hard time finding it and have stuck with the liquids. I don't like all the frilly smells, just want to fresh clean scent of Original Tide Powder.
I have to give a shout out for Original Scent Powdered TIDE. As many others have posted, it is not always available on the shelves at retailers because it seems there's a movement toward favoring the seemingly endless plastic bottles and varieties of liquid Tide. But, it is the most superior cleaning product out there, and really always has been. For me, you can't beat the "You Know It's Clean" scent. I prefer to not add any scented fabric softeners to enjoy the freshness, but when I do, I use unscented liquids or dryer sheets. I encourage the folks at P&G to bump up the marketing of Original Tide and to entice retailers to "Stock The Box." In this age of being green, isn't a recycled and recyclable or biodegradable box more earth friendly than a plastic bottle that lasts 100 years? In my book, Powdered Tide is the best value, best cleaning, best packaged laundry detergent out there. Did I mention that it leaves your clothes smelling great!
I've always used Tide powdered soap because I liked the smell of it. Why did you change it? Recently when I've used Tide, it has this terrible perfumy smell. It's the same awful smell that all the new perfumes are made out of these days and I am extremely allergic to it. I can never use Tide again. Why would you change somethat that already worked? This new smell is nauseating and I will have to find another laundry soap to use now.
When I was a young woman and moved away from home, the first thing I decided was I wasn't going to be like my Mother. She had always used Tide and I wanted to be different. I tried many different detergents, none worked and some even caused me to break out in a rash or caused severe itching. After about a year of trying to prove Mom wrong, I decided to give Tide a try. That was about 40 years ago. Now I wonder how my Mom became so wise. Tide is the best laundry product on the market! It gently cleans my laundry, leaving them looking new....not worn out. It is also gentle to my skin. Mom is gone now, but like so many other things, I'm grateful to have had her teach me about the goodness of Tide. Thanks Mom, and thank you, Tide, for being in my family for more than 90 years.
Even though Tide Original Scent is an excellent product, I question that it is the scent of the product when it was first introduced in 1946. My all time favorite scent for this terrific product was "Clothes Line Fresh." Thank you, Gary
I have used Tide powders for over 40 yrs. and my mother used it for many years before that. The only complaint I have is that, I guess, after they took the phosphates out, it doesn't clean as good as it used to. I tried some others but could see after about a month that my whites were dingy. Tide is still the best! I do like the new Tide Stain additive, too. Do not like the Total CAre at all. Sorry.
I am very happy to have tried your lavender scent it is the only scented detergent I can use because of family allergies. Your detergent has given me a scent for my whole house. thank you.
I've been using Tide for about 30 years. I've tried other brands, but I always come back to Tide. It does exact;y what it says it will. Stains are no match for Tide, and now Tide has an even better product...it's new stain release product to add with the detergent. Outstanding.
I have always bought the biggest box of Tide because I really like it's cleaning power, but I have rheumatoid arthritis and find it almost impossible to lift the box now. This is the first box I have bought that the handle only lifts the lid. I now have to lift the entire box with both of my hands and find it very difficult to do. It wasn't nearly as hard when the handle lifted the whole box. I may likely have to stop buying your product, as much as I hate to change brands.
Using your product goes way back in our family. My mom is sold on your products and I finally came to the realization that cheaper products were not going to cut it and now there's no going back for me now. I bought a huge box of powder detergent and noticed something about the box while putting it back on the shelf. I would like for the logo to be 180 degrees from where it is now. Because where it sits, the logo faces the opposite side and we can't see it. The opening makes the instructions face the direction most people would see. I mentioned it to my brother and he said he noticed the same thing. I said, "I bet we are not the only ones that have noticed this, maybe I should write their website." Just a suggestion! I emailed a few suggestions to the webmaster also about how it would be neat to see more graphic animations on your home page!. Keep up the good work on your fantastic products!
Tide powder is the only detergent I use. And...it's the only one I've used for over 30 years.
Out of all scents of Tide, Mountain Scent is my overall favorite. It not only gets out most stains, but the scent is great. Now since I've used this stuff in my front loader prior to any HE detergent out there, I only use half the amount, and have no problems with oversudding or cleaning performance. I tried the HE versions of all detergents, and I found most sud just as much as regular detergent at recommended dosage for top loaders. So I stick with regular, and cut the amount in half, and have twice as many loads per box. I just wish all detergent makers (especially Proctor & Gamble) would stop making their detergents with excessive amounts of suds. If a former competitor of theirs was able to make a universal low sudsing detergent, then why can't other detergent makers (especiallyt Proctor & Gamble)?
I've used Tide Powdered Detergent for more than forty years. Love the scent. Doesn't clean diapers as well as old formula did but I've heard that removal of phosphates is better for environment. Unfortunately, a family member gets itchy skin when I use it on t-shirts & underwear.
I use Tide with bleach powder detergent in the Clean Breeze scent. I use it on all of my whites. And when I have a stubborn stain, I make a paste with the detergent and apply it to the stain. It always works for me. I am a faithful buyer of this product, and I highly recommend it to everyone!!
A: 1/3 concentrated means that our powder detergents are now offered in a concentrated formula with outstanding performance at 1/3 less per dose. This allows the same number of loads in a detergent carton that is smaller.
A: Yes, our concentrated powder laundry detergent products were completely reformulated. In fact, in the US, our new concentrated Tide Traditional Top-Loader formulas provide even better stain removal performance than before and our new concentrated Gain formulas offer more freshness than before.
A: Yes. For example, the new 80 load carton that is 1/3 concentrated does the same number of loads as the previous 80 load carton of non-concentrated product. The difference is that the new P&G concentrated formula is more efficient, allowing for a smaller package that is both convenient and is a right step for the environment.
A: Liquid detergents are usually better at removing greasy stains, while powdered detergents are usually better at removing mud, dirt and other ground soils.
