Chewy and sticky, chewing gum is a fashion disaster waiting to happen. But, if it's not your lucky day, and you get some stuck to your clothes, all is not lost. First, remember, do not pull on the gum, as this may tear the garment. Now, you can get rid of chewing gum stains with a few little tricks and some help from Tide.
Test for colourfastness:
Apply hot vinegar to an inconspicuous area of the garment with a Q-tip, and let it sit for 1-3 minutes before applying a paper towel to the area. If no colour comes off on the towel, the garment is colourfast, and you can continue to pre-treat with vinegar.
Pre-treat:
Soak the item in hot vinegar for 1-3 minutes.
Remove excess:
Gently remove loose gum and repeat step 1 until the gum has been completely removed.
Dose:
Use the cap to ensure you use the right amountof Tide Ultra Stain Release Liquid detergent, and pour it into the detergent dispenser if you have an HE machine, or directly into the drum before loading the clothes if you have a non-HE machine.
Wash:
Wash on the usual cycle, on the hottest wash temperature indicated. Always check the instructions on the garment’s care label .

Unload:
When the cycle is complete, unload the garments immediately.
