Deodorant might keep you smelling fresh, but deodorant stains are not a good look. Few things can get your day off on the wrong foot like discovering stray white marks on a black dress, or discoloured underarms on your white shirt. Unfortunately the same ingredients designed to keep you dry and fresh can leave their own marks on your clothes. To get rid of deodorant stains, pre-treating is key, and you’ll want to act fast. All you need is a soft-bristled toothbrush and a good detergent like Tide Ultra Stain Release Liquid. With just a little effort, deodorant stains will be loosened in no time. Continue reading for Tide’s step-by-step guide to show you how to remove deodorant stains like a pro.
Remove Excess:
Brush off any excess from the garment before rinsing under cold, running water. The higher the water pressure, the easier it will be to remove.

Pre-treat:
Use Tide Ultra Stain Release Liquid and apply directly onto the stain. Use a soft bristled toothbrush to help work the detergent into the fibers of the garment or rub the fabric together gently and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Dose:
Use the cap to ensure you use the right amount of detergent, and pour it into the detergent dispenser if you have an HE machine, or directly into the drum before loading the clothes if you have a non-HE machine.

Load:
Without rinsing off the detergent, place the garment into the washer with other items. Leaving the detergent on the stain will give your wash that extra boost of cleaning power.

Wash:
Wash on the usual cycle, on the hottest wash temperature indicated. Always check the instructions on the garment’s care label.

Unload:
When the cycle is complete, unload the garments immediately.

If the stain persists after washing, repeat the previous steps before tossing in the dryer, as drying will set the stain. And, don’t underestimate the power of prevention. Make sure your deodorant is completely dry before dressing, and wash clothing immediately after wearing to prevent deodorant stains from spoiling your favourites.
