Tide to go

FAQ

Q: What is Tide to Go?
A: Tide to Go is a portable stain removing pen from Tide that instantly removes many fresh food and drink stains.

Q: Does Tide to Go work on all stains?
A: No. Tide to Go is designed specifically for removing fresh food and drink stains. Stains that Tide to Go works best on include ketchup, BBQ sauce, grape juice, tomato juice, coffee, soda, chocolate syrup, tea and wine. Tide to Go does not perform as well on non-food and drink stains including ink, grease, blood, and grass stains.

Q: Are there any stains that Tide to Go cannot remove?
A: For tough, thick stains like BBQ sauce and chocolate, we recommend that consumers wipe off excess parts of the stain before applying Tide to Go. Tide to Go does not perform as well on non-food and drink stains including ink, grease, blood, and grass stains. These are the types of stains that will need to be pretreated and laundered.

Q: Why is Tide to Go only for fresh food and drink stains?
A: Tide to Go was designed specifically for food and drink stains because our consumer research indicated that fresh food and drink stains accounted for 72% of stains that occur on the go. We are meeting a very specific consumer need with Tide to Go.

Q: Tide to Go didn't work well on my coffee stain - why not?
A: If used properly, Tide to Go performs very well on coffee stains. It is important to adhere to the instructions.
We also encourage consumers to reapply Tide to Go as necessary with certain stains. However, no product can promise to remove every stain under every condition, and so we're making sure that consumers understand exactly what Tide to Go is for and how to use it.

Q: Is Tide to Go easy to take on the go?
A: Tide to Go was designed specifically for consumers on the go. It is easy to handle and small enough to fit into briefcases, purses, desk drawers, car glove compartments, etc.

Q: Is Tide to Go safe for all fabrics?
A: Tide to Go is safe for all colourfast washable and dry cleanable fabrics. If you’re unsure about the fabric, we suggest testing an inside seam for colourfastness. Wash the garment according to care tag instructions.

Q: How long does the Tide to Go pen last?
A: With an advantage over single-use wipes, Tide to Go has multiple uses — approximately 10-20 applications.

Q: Does Tide to Go contain bleach?
A: Tide to Go does not include bleach and is safe to use on most fabrics.

Does not work

Bought this as an emergency as I was running errands with my wife and wanted to get out a drop of tomato out and it did not remove the stain at all. I had to buy a three pack.

This is not something that we would expect to happen with the Tide To Go pen, and we're very sorry you had that experience. The Tide To Go pen works best on fresh food stains (tomato juice, grape juice, ketchup, BBQ sauce, coffee, etc.) but does not work well on ink, blood, grease, grass, mud. For best results using the pen, press the tip down onto the stain to release the removal solution. Tide to Go won’t set any stains so if the stain still remains, pre-treat with Tide detergent and wash. If the item isn’t washable, take it to the dry cleaner. Please give us a call if you have any questions, by calling (800) 879-8433.

Stained my shirt yellow

I used my stain stick on my white shirt when I dropped a small drop of ketchup on it. It took the ketchup out but left a yellow stain on my shirt from the stick itself. :(

We're sorry you had that experience, Rowelau. When you use a Tide To Go pen, you should always dab the treated areas with a damp cloth to remove any excess Tide to Go solution left on fabric. This is explained on the packaging. In the meantime, we have tips for you to get that yellow out. 1. Using a PLASTIC bucket, create a soak solution by adding 1/2 use (approx. 5 teaspoons/25 mls) Tide® per gallon of warm water. Allow the garment to soak for up to 30 minutes, weighting the item with a WHITE towel to keep it totally submerged.2. Wash in warmest water setting with Tide. Try Tide Plus Bleach Alternative.3. If stain remains, pretreat using Tide Liquid (pour Tide on to cover stain and let set for 20 minutes). Then, rewash in warm water with Tide before drying. Before treating any garment, refer to the instructions on the care label. Always test solution on a hidden area first. If treating washable silk or wool, follow basic instructions, but hand wash.If you have any questions for us, please give us a call at (800) 879-8433.

Leaves a yellow stain on your white shirt

Please don’t buy this. It’ll ruin your shirt. I just recently got a new white hoodie and used this to go remove a small stain on my makeup foundation. Left a huge yellow stain on the area.

Bleached my brand new sweatshirt

Tried to get a little salsa off my sweatshirt, and it bleached a giant spot right on the middle of it. Can't wear it anymore.

Left stain, smells HORRIBLE.

Used this for a quick spot stain removal on white pants. It left a yellow stain bigger than the original mark. Almost worse, the smell is unbearable. It smells like feces or vomit. Avoid.
